Why You Shouldn’t Buy Organic

July 9, 2013

Not organic. Obviously,
because they look yummy.

I’ve said it over and over again: there is absolutely no reason to buy organic over conventional produce. Looks like someone over at the Huffington Post was listening (ok, maybe it had nothing to do with my harping, but a girl can dream!).

Professor Jayson Luck put together a list of 9 reasons why people really shouldn’t buy organic. The list includes:

  • Organic farms do use pesticides (I told you that much; remember?)
  • Pesticide use in production agriculture is a relatively small risk in the grand scheme of things.
  • Organic food is not healthier
  • Organic farming is not more sustainable

To see Professor Lusks’s full list and an explanation of each item: Slideshow here.
