What Makes You Country?

January 9, 2019

Have you heard this song by Luke Bryan?

Apparently some people question whether others are really “country” based on a number of factors. Luke’s song basically dismisses that because lots of things can qualify you as “country.”

I got my dirt road cred when I was twelve
On a no cab tractor hauling them bales
Backing in boats, fishing limb lines
Running bird dogs through the Georgia pines
Step side cover down in peanut dust
Friday night spotlight, and that was us
It might not’ve been you, but I can’t judge
Just be proud of what makes you country

“What makes you country?” Luke Bryan

I’ve never worried about this. I’m a farmer’s daughter. I’ve worked on the farm. I’ve had dirty hands. So, of course, I’m “country.”

But you know what? I don’t care if a city slicker wants to wear cowboy boots and ripped up jeans. Just support modern agriculture and you’re “country” in my book.
