Top 5 Posts of 2014!

January 1, 2015

Happy New Year!

Let’s celebrate the new year by honoring what was great in the last! In between flipping between college football bowl games (Go Green!), check out my top 5 posts of 2014. Be sure to check back on Monday, because I will be back with all new content!

5. Santa’s 2014 Naughty List. Despite it’s short time since being published, Santa’s Naughty List is a popular topic. But why not? The people on the list are usually better stomached in small bits instead of large doses.

4. Just Ignore those 2,000+ Studies Showing GMOs Are Safe! Some people just refuse to listen to reason and cannot be persuaded by peer-reviewed and published scientific studies, even when there are literally 2,000 of them hitting them over the head. Yeah, I’d totally trust that “scientific” study that was retracted and denounced by the scientific community over 2,000+ legitimate studies that meet all the criteria for scientific credibility. Doesn’t everyone?

3. School Science Project Gone Bad. Remember the sweet little girl that tried to teach us a thing or two about why buying organic was such a great thing, especially when it came to potatoes? It was only kinda hard to team up with scientist Steve Savage and bring this little girl’s science project into the light, where the experiment was swiftly and completely denounced as fake.

2. The Food Babe Series. I had a total of three articles on Food Babe (here, here, and here). In my first article, I introduced readers to her lack of credentials and faulty sense of science. Later, I questioned how she treated companies that caved into her boycotting and the so-called “Food Babe Army.” And finally, I decided to take a stand when she threatened me with a defamation claim. It’s just all in a day’s work.

1. Call Out Consumer Reports. Remember when Consumer Reports, the previously trusted publication giving consumers an honest look at various products, decided to forsake integrity and embrace pseudoscience? I certainly do and made sure to correct them at the time. In fact, this was my most popular post in 2014! That’s probably because calling people out when they sell out never gets old.

Disagree with the masses? What article was your favorite of 2014?

The Farmer's Daughter

These mass tort cases--and the lawyers who bring them---are an absolute nightmare. While they once focused on pharmaceutical companies, they now have agriculture in their sights. And millions of consumers see advertisements about how dangerous crop-protection tools are, leading them to believe it's accurate.
