My Article in Newsbeet Winter 2015

March 11, 2015

I was so excited last week when I came home from work and found an envelope from the Michigan Sugar Company in the mail! Last fall, the cooperative asked me to write an article for their publication Newsbeet, which I happily agreed to do. Sugar beets are one of the most common genetically engineered crops.

According to the companies’ website:

Today, Michigan Sugar Company is the third largest beet sugar processor in the United States, producing an annual average of more than 1 billion pounds of sugar. We sell our products in wholesale and retail quantities under the Pioneer® Sugar and Big Chief® Sugar brands

You can learn a ton more about the Michigan sugar industry, the process of growing sugar through getting it on your table, and much more at the site.

My article focused on tips and tricks for farmers to speak with consumers about biotechnology. You can find an online copy of the publication here, with my article on page 10.
