Who else hates January?
I don’t want to hate January. But there’s a lot of reasons. The glittery and festive atmosphere of the holidays is packed away. We’re in the middle of winter’s icy grip. And everything is set back to zero and we have to reach all those same achievements we were celebrating just a few weeks ago.
This year I’m trying to reset my thinking. It’s not starting from scratch, it’s another opportunity to find success. Winter is a time to focus indoors and on the things that get missed when we’re always outside. And while the festive spirit is fun, normal life can be fun too.
I’m trying. I’m really trying.
Are there things you do to lift yourself up during January?

Dear Amanda: Like you I am a practicing attorney, but in Los Angeles CA. I push a lot of litigation, so when chilly January rolls around at my office, I hunker down and write those complaints, answers, demurs and motions. The constant warfare does take its mental toll. Growing up, I worked on farms in South Jersey, close to the great piney forests, where the sandy soil is great for growing blueberries, strawberries and peaches. I have considered scaling back my practice of law and starting a truck farming business growing vegetables and herbs. When I saw your website I thought you could answer a few questions? It that ok? Alex
