Work Sharp – Keeping Your Knives and Tools Sharp!

February 28, 2018

[This post is sponsored by Work Sharp; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.]

Maintaining our tools and equipment on the farm is a major priority. The tools we use to plant, raise, and harvest our crops are expensive. If something breaks, we try to fix it instead of just replacing it. Just like kitchen masters, when knives and tools get dull, we want to sharpen them.

Of course, this is primarily dad’s job, and he is actually quite good at it. He has had his own tools since was in high school and takes a lot of pride in keeping them up. That is why he was super excited to try products by Work Sharp, a company that specializes in knife and tool sharpeners. We received a Guided Sharpening System and a Knife & Tool Sharpener: Ken Onion Edition to give a go and share with my readers!

The Guided Sharpening System is a manual bench top knife and tool sharpener and honing system. It comes with 2 diamond plates and a ceramic hone. It has angle guides to help ensure the perfect edge. It does take a little tinkering to figure out (definitely check out the instructions and videos!). Once dad figured it all out, the Guided Sharpening System was easy and effective in sharpening our big kitchen knives, even though they were pretty dull. Best of all, the entire sharpener is fairly compact, so it can easily fit in a drawer or cupboard to stay out of the way.

The Knife & Tool Sharpener: Ken Onion Edition is an electric top-of-the-line sharpener that comes equipped with  an adjustable precision sharpening guide, variable speed motor, and premium flexible abrasive belts. This sharpener was easier to initially figure out than the manual version, though of course, it also comes with easy to understand instructions and video guides. The Knife & Tool Sharpener was really effective when used to sharpen some dull kitchen knives and meat hatchet, and it hardly took any time at all. It does take up a little bit more room than the manual version, however, and obviously needs an electric source to operate. Otherwise, dad really enjoyed using the sharpener.

The Work Sharp family extends to Work Sharp Culinary, which provides a range of tools to keep kitchen knives sharp, and Drill Doctor, which provides sharpeners to keep your drill bits sharp. Both would be great to have around the farm! The family of companies strives for excellent customer service and has plenty of tutorial videos on its website so you can get the full benefits of your Work Sharp products. Best yet, each product comes with a full warranty that can easily be registered on the Work Sharp website — Work Sharp is proud to stand behind its products.

These are definitely quality sharpeners that get the job done. For anyone looking to keep their tools in tip top shape, these sharpeners are a must-have.

Whoops! Looks like I missed #NationalAgricultureDay.We're on a family vacation in Florida this week. We hit SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom. My highlight was spending some much-needed time with my favorite people. Headed home to Michigan soon. We're all hoping to bring back some warmer temperatures! 🤞 I hope you're having a good week! 💜
