“If everything is important, then nothing is important.”
This wisdom seems so relevant to my life right now. My career is getting busier. I’m working on a new professional venture. I’m trying to produce new content for all of you. My niece just turned two, which is such a fun (and fleeting) age! I want to spend time on the farm. And, oh yeah, my furry best friend also deserves some quality time and attention.
Whew. That’s a lot.
I’m constantly making decisions now about what things matter most. Should I stay home and clean, or go up to the farm and spend time with my parents? Do I need to get more work done in the evening or focus on Mischa? Am I neglecting my blog or working out? Can I finish this project at home or work on Saturday?
The reality is that we have to prioritize things. Sometimes that means saying no (something I hate to do!) to people. And maybe the dishes don’t get done every single night. I probably won’t take on any sponsored content right now. Some clients will have to wait a couple days. And the car is going to stay messy for a bit.
So what’s important?
- Myself
- My faith
- My family
- My friends
- My work
- My house
- My blog
It’s ok to make a list and stick to it. There’s no need to feel guilty about it. Because you can’t be everything to all people all the time.
