Fall is definitely my favorite time of year, especially while we’re harvesting. But harvest also means I take on extra duties, namely finding a way to bring dinner to the harvest crew (aka my parents, my brother, and the occasional truck driver).
Meals during harvest can get a little tricky. How does one get a warm, nutritious meal delivered at a decent time to a field in the middle of nowhere? Honestly, we settle for fast food a little more often than I would like to admit, just out of convenience. But even that gets pricey and redundant after not too many meals. I also feel super guilty for not coming up with something that not only tastes better, but is a little bit healthier.
Thankfully, this year I discovered Tyson Any’tizers snacks! They are made with real, white chicken meat and come in a variety of flavors. My favorites are the Honey BBQ and Zesty Garlic Parmesan, though I really like the chicken fingers when I’m home and can grab a dipping sauce. Dad likes a little kick to his dinner, so I pick up a bag of Buffalo style boneless wings for him. Each time I make them, I usually pick a couple different flavors just to keep it interesting!
The boneless chicken wings are great for harvest meals! They are super easy and quick to make, but also pack the flavor and some protein! Pair them with cut up vegetables, like baby carrots, and you have yourself a complete meal. The convenience is hard to beat, too. They come out of the oven nice and hot and I can easily keep them that way in route to the field. Because they are nuggets, they are really easy to put into separate containers. Having them separated also allows us to eat in shifts and still make sure everyone gets a warm meal. As a treat for myself, if there are any left over, I can pack up Any’tizers wings and take them to work for lunch the next day.
I feel so much better knowing that I can quickly make a flavorful, yummy meal for the harvest crew, even when I’ve been at work all day. We usually put in pretty long hours this time of year, and a warm meal is important to keep us going.
