Slow down. Move over. Seriously.
We were moving the combine, the corn head, and semi-truck to the next field. The tire on the corn-head trailer blew. Mom managed to pull off onto the side of the road. But it’s a busy road and the speed limit is 55 mph.
My brother and dad started working on the tire. Mom maneuvered the pickup so oncoming traffic could see the hazard lights. It didn’t seem to deter anyone though–cars continued to fly by in the right lane.
Folks, it doesn’t matter who is on the side of the road. It doesn’t matter why they’re there. Slow down and move over. I promise that wherever you’re headed isn’t more important than the lives of my loved ones. And this doesn’t just apply to farmers, it applies to everyone experiencing problems on the side of the road.
Have a care for the other people in this world. Slow down. Move over.
