New Lawsuit Over “Pink Slime”

December 18, 2012

The producers of so-called “pink slime” (I hate using that word because of the negative implications, but unfortunately, that’s what everyone knows it by) sued ABC and its anchors a couple months ago. The suit alleged that the actions of ABC and the anchors caused them to suffer economic harm when they were forced to close down some plants.

Now, one of the employees that lost his job over the whole stupid thing is also suing. This time he’s including Jamie Oliver, a celebrity chef, along with ABC. The suit alleges that the two recklessly mislead viewers into believing “pink slime” was bad. Oliver apparently said the product was “shit” and “not fit for human consumption.
I posted here regarding what “pink slime” really is and that it is perfectly safe.
As a result of the misinformation perpetrated by ABC and Jamie Oliver, the producers were forced to close down three plants and lay off over 750 workers.
While I’m not sure how likely it is that this case will be successful, at least this time, I hope it works…
