Fewer Than 30,000 Dairy Farms

April 18, 2022

I saw this statistic recently and it really hit me hard. Maybe it’s because dairy is a daily part of my diet. Maybe it’s because I know family farms that have gone under. Maybe because our whole agricultural system suddenly feels much more vulnerable. In fact since 2006, the United States has lost half its dairy farms.

There’s no reason to panic about supply though–during that same time milk production has increased 24%, and milk per cow has grown 20%.

How can you help? Buy dairy!
