Fewer Cows, Same Milk

October 25, 2022

I was so struck by this statistic when I saw it:

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers, National Milk Producers Federation and Dairy Farmers of America spearheaded a study to look at how technology has benefited dairy farmers and cows in the last 15 years. They released the results at the World Dairy Expo.

So how did farmers achieve this feat? Through better genetics, technology, and making data-driven decisions. The results also show that fed used for dairy cows has declined by 15%, water use has dropped by 10%, and greenhouse-gas emissions have dropped by 17%.

As I’ve said many times before, farmers are leaders in sustainability!

You can read more about the results here.
