Farming Fridays!

May 10, 2013

Let the Planting Begin

We finally started planting this week! Woohoo!
Of course, I started the week by enjoying the sunshine, bugging dad, and taking photos with the tractors.
But planting has really started now that we have some sun and dry weather. It’s working a little like this. My youngest brother is now home from college so we’ve had three tractors running at once this week.
First, we go into the field with the cultivator.
The tractor with the cultivator hooked up.

Next, we put some potash out.

Excuse the dust. My brother took this one while in the other tractor.
Finally, we start planting the corn.
Left side of the field is planted; right side is not.
So far, we have about 220 acres planted into corn.

By this time next week, if everything goes right, we should start to see some little corn plants!
