Farm Living: “Almost Walked Into This Nightmare”

October 2, 2015

UPDATE: I asked my brother if he was able to get a closer picture of it, and he said he wasn’t putting his hand anywhere near it to snap the picture. If you’re not able to tell, it’s some type of spider-ish creature that is extremely well camouflaged on the corn!

I just have to share this little gem that my brother sent me this week. While he was out checking out some corn crops, he almost ran into this little guy (he’s in the blue circle, may have to click on the photo and zoom in to see him properly). Needless to say, my brother was less than thrilled and very happy he saw him before he made contact!

I’m a city boy, and cannot see or understand the importance of the object circled in blue. Can I have a few hints? Thanks

I give up – what is “this little guy”? I have zoomed in as far as my computer will go and cannot identify the critter in the corn stalk. Looks to me like the dime-sized face of a newborn kitten, but I’m sure it isn’t. Where does your brother farm? I am curious to know what kind of small critter a farmer might encounter above ground that he or she would be “less than thrilled” to see and glad to avoid contact with.
