Christie Stands Up to HSUS

July 1, 2013

Protect the Harvest

I don’t normally get involved in partisan politics, but we have to give credit where credit is due. And right now, that’s to Gov. Chris Christie.

I’ve talked about gestation crates before; this is the poster child for groups like HSUS.

New Jersey’s legislature fell for the scheme. They passed a bill which would have banned the use of gestation crates. “The legislation was championed by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and other radical animal-rights activists even though it would have prevented farmers from caring for their animals in a way approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.” (Source: NPPC)

But Chris Christie vetoed the legislation.

So, our hats off to him for standing up against the giant animal rights interest groups and for animal agriculture (and common sense).
