You know, I’m a Michigan girl. So when there is awesome news coming out of Michigan and it relates to agriculture, I’m probably going to do a post on it.
We have some good news and it will benefit everyone, not just Michiganders!
Representative Dan Benishek has been appointed to US House of Representative’s Agriculture Committee. Seven others were also appointed.
“We see this as a great opportunity to resume working closely with agriculture committee members in both the House and Senate chambers,” said MFB President Wayne H. Wood, a dairy farmer from Sanilac County. “We’ve been encouraged by Congressman Benishek’s interest. The 1st District is huge and its farms have some of everything—dairy, forestry, forages, fruit, grain, potatoes—all kinds of things. It’s a lot of ground and a lot of variety to represent, and Congressman Benishek does a great job learning about and representing all of it. That’s a reassuring testament to his recognition that Michigan agriculture is vital the state’s economic well-being.”
