The above chart shows the breakdown between biotech and non-biotech crops planted in 2018. Soybeans, cotton, maize, and canola are the four most widely adopted biotech crops in the world. I was surprised to see that soybeans top the list. I’ve honestly always thought maize/corn was the most widely adopted biotech crop. But soybeans actually cover 50% of the world’s biotech-crop acres.
